Loganair set to commence two new routes for 2018 from Norwich

Loganair set to commence two new air routes from Norwich

Loganair is adding two destinations to Norwich Airport’s route map, as it launches non-stop services to the Isle of Man and Inverness as part of its Summer 2018 schedule.

The developments will build upon Scotland’s Airline’s position as the leading operator at Norwich Airport, where it bases two aircraft and employs 30 staff locally to operate an expanding range of services.

The new Inverness service will operate on Mondays and Fridays from June 29 to September 3, providing a non-stop link between Norwich and the capital of the Highlands.  Journey times will be just 90 minutes, and the new service will complement existing connections available throughout the year via Manchester, which Loganair serves up to three times every weekday from both Norwich and Inverness.

Lead-in fares from Norwich start at £74.99 while one-way tickets from Inverness can be purchased from £61.99.

Loganair’s second new service from Norwich for Summer 2018 is to restore links to the Isle of Man.   Flights will operate over the busy Isle of Man TT motorcycle event weekends, on Fridays and Sundays from May 25 to June 10.  Prices start from just £64.99 one-way.

Both new routes will be operated by the Dornier 328 aircraft based at Norwich, where Loganair maintains its only operating facility outside its Scottish heartlands to date.  A team totalling 30 pilots, cabin crew and engineers support the two Norwich-based aircraft primarily to provide regular services to both Manchester and Edinburgh.

In a further move, Loganair is increasing the frequency of its seasonal services to Jersey for Summer 2018.   Flights will recommence on May 4 and run through to October 7, and Loganair will be adding Saturday flights to its schedule on this route for the first time in 2018.

Its launch of more frequent services to the Channel Islands have led to significant 56% growth in passenger numbers between Norwich and Jersey this year.  The airline is confident that its extra Saturday flights for 2018 will continue to encourage more leisure and business travellers to use the 75-minute journey, where it is now contemplating year-round services.

Loganair’s Managing Director Jonathan Hinkles said: “We’re delighted to be introducing further, new services to our base at Norwich, where we have a tremendous and dedicated team of local pilots, cabin crew and engineers.   We expect that our new Inverness service will prove popular both for those visiting the Highlands and to encourage new incoming tourism to East Anglia during the Scottish summer holidays.”

“We’ve also carefully analysed demand for Isle of Man and Jersey services and we’ve decided to add a new Saturday service to Jersey to complement our existing Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday flights; and to add the new Isle of Man flights to meet demand over the busiest weekends of the year as the world-famous TT races take place.”

Jonathan continued:

“We’ve also seen some tremendous growth in passenger figures on our route between Norwich and Edinburgh over the last six months and are encouraged to see an increasing number of customers using our fast and frequent air services to Manchester.   We’re pleased to add to these links with the new services announced today, and are delighted to call Norwich Airport our home outside Scotland.”

These new Loganair summer services will be available to book at www.loganair.co.uk or 0344 800 2855 from December 19 with travel up to and including October 26 2018.

All passengers travelling through Norwich Airport much also pay a £10 Airport Development fee.
